Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What is Sound Off?

Sound Off is a weekly music league for you and your friends. Each round, someone sets a prompt, everyone submits a YouTube link, and the group votes on their favourites.

How do I create a league?

Sign in, head to your dashboard, and click 'New league'. You choose the number of rounds, how many songs each person submits per round, and how many points each voter gets to distribute.

How do I invite friends?

From your league's admin page, enter a friend's email and they'll receive an invite link. They'll need to sign in to join.

Rounds & submissions

How does a round work?

The league admin opens a round with a creative prompt and a submission deadline. Members paste a YouTube link before the deadline. Once everyone has submitted — or the deadline passes — the playlist unlocks and voting opens. Results are revealed after the voting deadline.

What counts as a valid submission?

Any YouTube link works — youtube.com/watch?v=… or youtu.be/… short links both accepted. The title and thumbnail are pulled in automatically, and Spotify and Apple Music search links are generated for you.

Can I change my submission after submitting?

You can update your Spotify and Apple Music listen-along links any time before the voting deadline. The YouTube link itself can't be swapped after submission.

What happens if I miss the submission deadline?

You're locked out of voting for that round. You'll still be able to see the results when they're revealed.

Voting

How does voting work?

You have a fixed number of points to distribute across everyone's submissions except your own. Put them all on one song, spread them evenly, or anything in between. Click 'Lock votes' once you've spent every point.

Can I vote for my own song?

No — your own submission is marked 'Your track' and can't receive your votes.

Can I change my votes after submitting them?

Yes, you can update your votes any time before the voting deadline closes.

What happens if I miss the voting deadline?

Your votes won't count for that round, but you'll still see the results when they're revealed.

Results

When are results revealed?

Results unlock automatically when the voting deadline passes — or sooner if everyone votes early. Scores, rankings, and the full playlist are shown on the round page.

How is the winner determined?

The submission with the most points wins. Tied songs share the rank.
